Intellectual Property Basics (see description to register)
Monday March 23, 2026 1:00pm - 2:00pm EDT
Seperate Registration at: https://forms.gle/5f44b9QNmrjvu7ZM7

Description Intellectual property (IP) is a cornerstone of innovation and creativity in our world. From the music we listen to and the books we read, to groundbreaking inventions and iconic brand slogans, IP permeates every aspect of our lives. The four main types of IP protection include patents, trademarks, copyright, and trade secrets. For entrepreneurs, protecting IP is essential for maintaining a competitive edge. Key steps include identifying IP assets, choosing the appropriate form of protection, conducting thorough searches to avoid infringement, filing necessary applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and implementing security measures for trade secrets. Attendees will learn the basic IP differences and how to navigate the complex world of IP protection. This workshop will be held on Monday, March 23rd at 1 p.m. on Zoom and in-person at 201 Davey Lab on the University Park Campus.

The Jared Box Project: Making an impact, one smile at a time!
Tuesday March 24, 2026 10:00am - 1:00pm EDT
Over One Million Smiles! For over 20 years Jared Boxes have delivered countless smiles, laughter, and hope to children in hospitals nationwide. The mission of The Jared Box Project is to lift the spirits of children in the hospital. A Jared Box is a plastic shoebox filled with small gifts, toys, cards, games, and other fun activities.

Join us to learn more about this uplifting story and make a Jared Box!

The children of Our Lady of Victory School in State College, Pennsylvania, started the project to honor their classmate, Jared. He was a brave little boy who battled cancer with courage and faith that continues to inspire us all. Since then, over one million Jared Boxes have been delivered to over 550 hospitals. Boxes filled with the “gift of play” are given to young patients in emergency rooms, hospital rooms, surgical centers, and clinics. We are a ‘Give Local’ project. Thousands of groups have made Jared boxes for hospitals in their communities. Children and their parents are so thankful for these boxes that showcase the importance of play and are filled with well wishes, hope, and love. We picked up where Jared left off and share toys with children in the hospital.

Entrepreneurship is often glamorized. Rarely is it discussed honestly. This private dinner brings together active founders and a curated group of students who are genuinely curious about entrepreneurship as a potential career path. The purpose of the evening is transparency: What does building a company actually require? What are the real trade-offs? What does success truly cost? Who should not pursue entrepreneurship? Seats are intentionally limited to protect the quality of conversation. Students are selected based on seriousness, curiosity, and willingness to engage — not resume prestige. This application ensures commitment from everyone in the room. If you are willing to ask thoughtful questions — and ready to hear real answers — complete the application below.

Design, Touch, Convince: Prototyping for Market Insight- 3D Printing Workshop
Wednesday March 25, 2026 11:15am - 12:00pm EDT
In this hands-on workshop, students learn how physical prototypes help reveal what customers think and feel in ways surveys and focus groups often cannot. Using quick, low-detail prototypes and 3D-printed examples, participants see how shape, feel, and appearance influence perceived value, brand image, and price expectations. Through short, interactive activities, students learn how marketers can use prototypes not only to test ideas, but also to gain practical market insight and support go-to-market decisions.

Failure, Pivots, and Building What Lasts
Wednesday March 25, 2026 12:15pm - 1:15pm EDT
Join us for a luncheon conversation with Justin Rosenberg, Penn State alumnus and founder of honeygrow, as he shares the real story behind building a fast-growing restaurant brand. In this candid 20-minute talk, Justin will discuss what didn’t work, how and why he pivoted, and the critical thinking required to adapt when an original idea needs to change. His experience highlights a truth many founders learn the hard way: lasting businesses are built through iteration, resilience, and learning from failure. This session is designed to give startups and students practical insight into navigating uncertainty and making smarter decisions as ideas evolve. Founded in 2012, honeygrow is a Philadelphia-based fast-casual restaurant known for its customizable stir-fries, salads, and signature honeybar desserts made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The brand has grown to 71 restaurants across the East Coast, offering wholesome, health-forward options including vegan and gluten-free choices, while staying true to its mission of honest eating and thoughtful growth.

The Dare to Disrupt Design & Build Challenge is a hands-on, team-based experience in which Penn State students turn ideas into a real-world build using professional prototyping tools at OriginLabs, located in the Eric J. Barron Innovation Hub in downtown State College.

Over two guided build sessions, selected students will design, prototype, and fabricate a visually striking interpretation of the Dare to Disrupt podcast logo, then showcase it to alumni entrepreneurs, campus leaders, and peers. No prior design, prototyping, or entrepreneurship experience required. If you’re curious, creative, or hands-on, this is for you.

Spots are limited, apply today! The event will take place on Wednesday, March 25, and Thursday, March 26, from 2 – 5 pm at OriginLabs.

PSU Biotech Boardroom Pitch Competition
Friday March 27, 2026 11:15am - 12:45pm EDT
Have you ever wondered what SDGs are? How can you incorporate them into E-ship courses? The PSU Biotech Boardroom Pitch competition will show how students from different majors and colleges across Penn State University came together as teams in Biotechnology 459 offered by the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department in the Eberly College of Science.

Over the semester, students started by identifying one or more of the United Nations' 17 sustainability development goals (SDGs). Then, they applied their hard and soft skills in the natural and physical sciences, entrepreneurial grit, and global perspectives to develop an innovative solution for these SDGs. The proposed projects were then presented in an elevator pitch to further their ideas, receive feedback, and form teams of people with similar ideas and solutions.

Throughout the semester, after the team formation, students were accompanied by alum mentors and judges from the industry, including entrepreneurs, seasoned professionals, and healthcare workers.
