About me
I am an entrepreneur and have spent most of my career developing technologies for healthcare. I was the Founding CEO of Lucira Health, which developed the first at-home COVID-19 test cleared by the FDA. Over its lifetime Lucira Health raised ~$250M and IPO'ed (NASDAQ: LHDX) in 2021, reaching a peak of $1.4B before acquisition by Pfizer two years later. In 2019, I co-founded Animalia Health, a company that leveraged Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) for complete gut health assessment in pets. It was acquired a year later by a Cargill-backed venture. In 2020, I was an investment partner at Wefunder where my team and I raised $1M for the "Fight the Virus" Pandemic Fund. We interviewed over 2,500 startups, invested in 20 companies, and currently have a projected MOIC of ~5x (unaudited). Since 2021, I have been working on my third startup, LiteraSeed, a mission-driven startup that helps safety-net health systems with low-income, underinsured, and Medicaid patients bridge care gaps and boost patient service revenue.
I have co-authored over $26.5M in non-dilutive funding from the NIH, NSF, BARDA, DARPA, and Gates Foundation, am a co-inventor on 50+ patents across the world, and proudly have maintained a 98.0% employee retention rate during my CEO tenures. I obtained my Ph.D. in Bioengineering from UC Berkeley (2012) and B.S. in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Penn State University (2007).
My passion lies in team and company building. My interests lie in the development and commercialization of bleeding edge technologies that will transform the state-of-the-art in biotech and the standard-of-care in healthcare. My greatest reward from company building has been organizing teams and creating cultures that I love to work with every day.
