Penn State Startup Week 2026

Ryan joined Penn State in 2021 as Director of the brand-new OriginLabs, a prototyping and product design facility serving entrepreneurs and start-ups from the university, community, and beyond. Previously, Mandell was director of fabrication labs for Indiana University's school of art, architecture, and design, and a faculty member in Sculpture at various universities, including University of North Texas, Boise State University, and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. When not at work, Ryan enjoys furniture design and fabrication, urban logging/lumber milling, and taking his daughters on hikes (with ice cream afterwards).
